About the app
Diary Lite is a private record of your life: what happened, with whom, where if you want, how you felt, and photos. It also helps you look back over a week, a month or a day in earlier years. Everything is sealed on your computer behind a lock. Nothing goes to a social network or a hosted service.
Write a dated entry quickly, with free text, the people involved, a mood on a simple five-step scale, and tags. Add photos in JPEG, PNG or WebP. Places are optional and are stored only if you turn them on in Settings. A month calendar marks the days with entries, and any day opens its entries or lets you write for it. A page for each person lists every entry they appear in, newest first, and when you last saw them.
From your text, the app proposes people, places and tags. Each suggestion has a tick, and nothing is added until you click Add the ticked ones. Search finds entries by words, and by meaning when OfflinAI Server has an embedding model, across entries, people, places, tags and photo captions. A look-back writes three to six sentences about a week or a month, and each sentence points to the entry it comes from. Sentences that cannot be tied to an entry are left out, and you are told how many. Counts show entries and days written, entries per month, mood over time and the people you saw most.
You can export the whole diary or one month as Markdown with its photos, or as a PDF to print.
Your diary is sealed with a key made from a secret in the Windows keychain and, if you choose one at the first start, a passphrase. The diary opens only with both. It locks with Ctrl+L and after a number of idle minutes that you set. There is no recovery for a forgotten passphrase, so keep it safe.
The suggestions, photo captions, search by meaning and look-backs use OfflinAI Server running on your own PC. Without it, every feature still works with simpler rules: suggestions by rules, search by words, and a plain digest for the look-back.
Everything stays on your device. Nothing is sent to OfflinAI, there is no account, and no data is collected.
